Recently, there was an electrification kit for the Clip Véo at the Eurobike 2025 in Frankfurt, where we could try it briefly and learn more and new versions!
A little voluntarily or not, the clip made us collide on any muscle bike, which seems to have experience. This is much better, because the aim of this electrification set is to prevent unnecessary purchase of an electric wheel when its current muscle bike has years ahead.

So we climb without much effort if you use the right speed, because the system works better with a good pedaling speed (even if the clip does not use the cycling sensor).
Boost button and mixed noise
However, we can less appreciate the effect of the acceleration of the button: just taste it without any pedal. Which is somewhat contrary to the rules valid in Europe.
The command is also too impressive and is not too ergonomic, so it is impractical to install near the hands. If you want to get to it, so you have to get out of the handle, which is not very safe to brake after support.
The second button allows you to brake electrical aid, practical when walking with the wheels or downhill with somewhat worn muscle wheel brakes. Another negative point, noise is very present, which is not necessarily serious in dense circulation in a large city, but painful in a quiet environment. Efforts should be made again.
Future kit for electrification clip for small wheels?
Assessing the help of the clip is very good in terms of reaction, pleasure, sincere power in the climb with the Boost button. However, we regret too high noise and that the boost button is illegal because it is not correlated with the tendon.
We hope that one day we will test this kit electrification clips on several types of muscle wheels so that we can fully assess it. Good news for those who do not necessarily have a standard size biclou, small brothers will be able to adapt to other wheel sizes, practical for compact or folding. Because Clip told us that a prototype is going on brompton, we can’t wait to see it!
