Stop Others Using Your Instagram Photos in AI Prompts: Here’s How

How to Delete an Instagram Account in iOS 26

Meta has just introduced a feature called Muse Image, a new AI image generator built into platforms such as Meta AI, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Through this feature, users can now mention any public Instagram account in a prompt and use that account’s photos, reels, and videos as inspiration for AI-generated content.

In practice, this means anyone can pull your content into their AI creations without you knowing, but that can only happen if your profile is public. Meta says private accounts are excluded from this entirely. The public ones, however, are fair game unless you take the time to opt out manually.

If your concerned about your privacy, then it’s worth heading straight to as soon as the setting appears on your account. Content that gets used before you opt out may not be removed afterward, which means the sooner you act, the better.

Here’s How to Opt Out

1 Open Instagram and go to your profile.

2 Tap the menu icon in the top-right corner and select Settings and activity.

3 Scroll down to Sharing and Reuse and look for the option that reads Allow people to create with and reuse your content on Instagram and with AI features at Meta.

4 Turn off both Posts and Reels.

Once both are turned off, other users won’t be able to tag your content into AI prompts through Muse Image. However, keep in mind that this feature is rolling out gradually, so the setting may not show up on your account just yet. If you don’t see it now, check back in a few days as Meta continues expanding availability.

Remember, the opt-out exists, but it won’t undo what’s already been used. Get ahead of it now while you still can.
